Continuous Recruitment for Teacher Substitutes
Requires a BA/BS and Passing the CBEST

Sub Rates: $175/day $195/Day on 11th Consecutive Day

    1. All Substitute Teachers are processed and cleared through Madera County Superintendent of School (MCSOS).
    2. Once cleared, MCSOS notifies GVUSD via email.
    3. Human Resources sends each substitute a Substitute Packet to be completed and filled out.
    4. Substitute is scheduled an appointment with Human Resources to bring completed documents and to input into the FRONTLINE/AESOP substitute phoning system.
    5. GVUSD Substitute pay is paid in accordance with District rates.
    1. Complete an online application for the desired position. Include the following documents as attachments to your application:
      • A completed online application on EDJOIN
      • A letter of application with Educational Philosophy
      • Resume
      • College/University Placement file or Reference Letters
      • College transcripts, which include verification of degree
      • CBEST – Verification of successful completion
      • Credential copy or Date applied for credential
      • Letter of interest 
      • Current resumé
      • Letters of recommendation (including at least one letter pertaining to your most recent work experience)
      • Copies of up-to-date transcripts for all graduate and undergraduate work (unofficial are acceptable)
      • Copies of your credentials/certificates.
    2. Link your online application to an open vacancy or pool. This ensures that your completed application materials can be seen by screening committees. You can continue to edit (or upload documents to) your online application even after hitting save or apply.
    3. Principals and department chairs (as part of the screening committee) screen completed application packets and select candidates to interview for particular positions; they notify Human Resources of selected candidates. (Once all rounds of interviews have been conducted, HR will notify all applicants not selected for interview.)
    4. Candidates are contacted by Human Resources and interviewed by GVUSD principals and panelists
    5. Candidates are requested to teach standards based demonstration lesson for the panel. The requesting site Administrator will conduct a complete professional reference check using the district reference form.
    6. The Superintendent and selected Cabinet members interview finalists and recommend the final candidate to the GVUSD Board of Trustees. GVUSD Board of Trustees approves all teacher hires.
    7. Human Resources will contact the selected candidate with a conditional employment offer to discuss salary, placement, benefits, and general employment terms.

      • Current resumé
      • 3 Letters of recommendation (including at least one letter pertaining to your most recent work experience)

      • Copies of your credentials/certificates
    3. Be selected for an interview. A committee screens completed applications and selects candidates to interview for particular positions. The committee considers GVUSD's affirmative action policy and the following criteria:
      • Education, credentials, and training
      • Experience
      • Professional references
      • Other qualifications of the position
    4. A panel will interview each selected candidate to assess his/her ability, interest, and readiness to fill the position. Each interviewee will complete a practicum as part of the interview and present it to the panel.
    5. Finalists will be notified, and the requesting Administrator will conduct a complete professional reference check using the district reference form.
    6. The Superintendent, Asst. Superintendent of HR and direct Supervisor will interview finalists and recommend a candidate to the Board of Education
